Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service
Phoenix is an innovative diversionary programme designed to support young people aged between nine and 25 facing challenges in their daily lives. Led by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) and funded through collaborations with partners, we use practical firefighter training activities to help young people develop essential life skills while making safer choices for themselves and their communities. Research by the National Fire Chief’s Council suggests that early intervention initiatives like Phoenix deliver a return of £3.30 for every £1 spent.
